CPI-M rallies 'attacked'; Left, TMC continue to trade charges

Opposition CPI-M today alleged that processions carried out by its leaders were attacked at two places for the second day today by ruling Trinamool Congress, which in turn accused the Left party of trying to "capture" villages and destroy peace.
"Yesterday, they (TMC) attacked the rally of CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra and today they have attacked rallies at two other places. TMC is trying to subvert all democratic rights of the people in the state," CPI-M Politburo member and Left Front chairman Biman Bose told reporters here.
"The Chief Minister talked about tolerance but why is her party is so intolerant?" he asked.

Mishra, whose rally was allegedly attacked at Narayangarh yesterday, said, "They cannot stop us. The more they attack, the more there will be the resistance."
TMC secretary general and Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on the other hand accused CPI-M of trying to capture villages in the name of organising rallies.
"They (CPI-M) are trying to disturb peace in the state. They are talking about violence, (but) what have they done during their rule? They used to terrorise the villagers, so that no one could vote against them.

"Now when they (CPI-M) have been rejected by the masses in all the elections since 2011, they are using violent means to capture the villages. The people will resist against such attempts," he said.

Former CPI-M MP Ramchandra Dom alleged that TMC workers and anti-socials attacked his party workers with rods and crude bombs as they were preparing to take out a 'jatha' (rally) at Mayureswar in Birbhum district.
Countering the charge, TMC Zilla Parishad member from Mayureshwar Jatil Mondal said, "The allegation levelled by CPI(M) is baseless. It is a fallout of their factional-feud."
Mishra, who is also the leader of opposition in the state, alleged that attacks on CPI-M rallies at Mayureswar and Pingla were manifestation of TMC's frustration and fear.
Chatterjee hit back saying "They were enacting a drama to draw media attention. They are not their with the masses. They are only in the media."

A senior police officer said a case has been lodged at the Mayureswar police station by CPI(M) and a police team had been sent to the village.
"We are investigating. There has been no arrest so far but raids are on," he added.
