"Those who are crying foul over violence and malpractices in polls should remember how TMC had by a huge margin won both Lok Sabha polls last year and Assembly bypolls a few months back, which were held under the supervision of central forces," Abhishek Banerjee, TMC leader and nephew of party supremo Mamata Banerjee, told a rally here.
The ruling party alleged that the violence in the just- concluded municipal polls was due to a conspiracy hatched by opposition parties.
"CPI(M) has been rejected by the masses time and again. But they are still to learn their lesson and that is why, just ahead of next year's Assembly polls, they are trying to create disturbance in the state.
"It is our duty to unmask them and expose them before the people," Abhishek said.
"It is a sign a political bankruptcy of CPI(M) that they have taken to beating up police personnel and unleashing violence on the day of polls. A section of media has also joined hands with them.
Trinamool Congress and opposition CPI(M), Congress and BJP have been trading charges over the issue of violence during the October 3 municipal polls.
The State Election Commission had yesterday said repoll will be held in some booths of Bidhannagar and Asansol civic bodies and Bally in Howrah while counting for all three would be done on October 9.
TMC had sought that the counting be taken up on the scheduled date of October 7.
