The ordinance to amend the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 received Presidential assent on December 31.
The ordinance has already been opposed by parties including Congress and NDA ally PMK in Tamil Nadu.
CPI(M)'s State Council, which met here today, adopted a resolution condemning the ordinance.
"This ordinance is against the interests of farmers and it could deprive them of land which is their source to livelihood," the resolution said.
Tamil Nadu should fix Rs.3500 per tonne as support price for sugarcane farmers immediately.
The State should arrange for disbursement of Rs.363 crore pending arrears to cane ryots by sugar mill owners, a separate resolution urged.
