Accusing the Centre of encouraging "Company Raj" in the country, CPI(ML)-Liberation and organisations associated with All India People's Forum have announced that they will hold protests across the country against "anti-poor" policies of the NDA government.
Speaking on the sidelines of AIPF convention held here, CPI(ML)-Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said various social organisations and trade unions are also likely to join the outfits to protest over the issues of land, labour and livelihood protection.
"We have been engaged in a campaign over the issues for some time. But we are planning culmination of the same by organising simultaneous protests in parts of the country under the 'Bhumi Adhikar, Shram Adhikar' campaign.
"Certain companies are trying to take control over the country which is reminiscent to negative national memories of Company Raj (of Britishers) ignoring concerns of farmers, labourers and poor," Bhattacharya said.
Meanwhile, speakers at the convention held yesterday expressed concern over Land Acquisition Ordinance, proposed amendments to labour laws, 'Make in India' slogan and alleged educational restructuring by the government.
Accusing the Centre of working overtime to hand over natural resources in the country to corporate houses, they said the issues of common people have been sacrificed for "pro-business houses" policies.
Besides Bhattacharya, All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA) leader Kavita Krishnan, senior counsel ND Pancholi, journalist-activists Gautam Navlakha and Kiran Shaheen, AIPF member Gautam Modi and economist Atul Sood addressed the gathering of students, workers and activists.
