"His statement was provocative," CPI national secretary D Raja said.
"He is not just a RSS pracharak or BJP leader. He is a Prime Minister and that too, he is speaking on the Parliament premises as part of celebrating the Constitution," Raja said.
Raja also reiterated the Opposition's demand the Prime Minister take part in debate over demonetisation inside Parliament.
"He speaks outside, he can speak very same thing inside (on demonetisation). We have no problem. And we will be responding to the Prime Minister's statement. (But) he doesn't speak inside the Parliament, speaks outside," the Left party leader said.
