"It is a positive development that the talks have resumed, followed by NSA-level talks between the two sides. There were ups and downs in the relationship between the two sides. Now Swaraj's visit will lead to a composite dialogue," CPI national secretary D Raja said.
Raja expected both sides to engage in a "meaningful" dialogue and to ensure they solve problems between them bilaterally.
"At the same time, the government should also take Parliament and political parties into confidence and tell them broader issues discussed," the Rajya Sabha member said.
Speaking at 'Heart of Asia' ministerial conference on Afghanistan in Islamabad, Swaraj had also asked the international community to ensure that the forces of terrorism and extremism do not find sanctuaries and safe havens in "any name, form or manifestation".
