"Congress had given credit of 1971 war to then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. So what is wrong if the credit for surgical strikes is going to Prime Minister Modi," he said.
"The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) has said that surgical strikes have taken place. Never before, the DGMO gave statement on surgical strikes in the rule of UPA-I and II," the Union Minister of State for Finance said here.
"In the elections after the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Congress gave credit to Indira Gandhi and not to the Army. So why credit should not be given to PM Modi? Credit will go to Modi and Army both.
On the concerns of tax officers from states pertaining to GST, Meghwal said the government is examining the demands.
"We are examining their demands and justified move will be taken accordingly," he said.
Earlier, Meghwal addressed a seminar on education policy-2016 at Maharaja Gangasingh University.
"The draft of the new policy revolves around humanity. Emphasis has been given for overall development of the student," he said.
The minister said Indian culture will be incorporated in the new education policy.
