The incident took place late last night when some unidentified persons entered the house of one Mohanlal in Lamakhera village for loot following which the family raised an alarm, Additional Superintendent of Police Brijesh Srivastava said.
The villagers rounded one of the miscreant Wasi Haider (45) and beat him to death, he said.
In a bid to escape, the remaining miscreants allegedly opened fire in which Mohanlal's son Pradeep Kumar (26) was injured, the ASP said.
