Crocodile found in river bed

A seven-foot crocodile was found sleeping atop a rock on the bed of the Amaravathi River near here, causing a flutter among the nearby residents today.
Officials said the crocodile could have escaped from the Crocodile Farm near the Amaravathi Dam in Udumulai taluk.
The crocodile did not care to move though a good crowd gathered on the bank. However, as the day temperature increased, it moved back into the river.
People of Saminathapuram area near the river told the officials that they had noticed five crocodiles in the river occassionally and sought steps to capture them.
