CRPF officer fatally shoots self

A CRPF officer allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Kashmir Valley's Baramulla district, a police spokesman said here today.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinder Prasad shot himself dead with his service rifle at a CRPF camp, 55-km from here, last evening, he said.
It was not immediately ascertained what prompted the officer to take the extreme step, the spokesman said.
The body was handed over to the concerned unit after completion of legal formalities, he said.
