Additional Sessions Court-VI Judge K S Sarathchandran also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each on the accused Jayakumar (47) and Venugopal (48), charged with murder among other offences, in connection with the death of the man after he was interrogated in a police station here in April, 2005.
The court found them guilty under IPC section 302, 348 (wrongful confinement) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Rajendran was interrogated by the accused constables and 'third degree method' was used which led to his death. Though, he was rushed to the district hospital, he died, it was stated.
