Cut in GST rates on 178 commodities

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today claimed that the slashing of the GST rates on 178 commodities of common use was due to the struggle the Congress had resorted to in the interests of the public.
Talking to reporters here today on his return from Guwahati after attending the Goods and Services Tax (GST) council meeting, he said that the leaders and workers of the Congress had resorted to the struggle in response to the directives of the party vice president Rahul Gandhi seeking cut in the GST rates.
The GST council had now announced the slashing of rates on 178 commodities of daily use which would be a big relief to common man, he said.

He said that Puducherry was saved of major impact of the current rains largely due to preventive steps the government took by desilting operations and also proper vigil maintained by the departments.
He also said that the coordinated initiatives by the Health, Local Administration and a few other departments to prevent spread of dengue and breeding of mosquitoes responsible for the fever had also resulted in preventing occurrence of dengue.
