"The water assessment is going on and the same would be completed by next year. The last water assessment was done in 1993 and hence CWC has taken up this initiative," Jha told PTI.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the International Conference on Climate Change, Water, Agriculture and Food Security held at ICRISAT here.
The meet has been organised by a consortium of Institutions including Water and Land Management Training and Research Institute, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and Norewegian Institute of Bio economy Research.
"There are other limitations like equipment the accuracy of measuring them," he quipped.
To another question whether there was any representation for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Krishna water dispute, the CWC Chairman said there have been "long meetings on the issue".
He, however, refused to comment on the water disputes between some states as well as on Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on the Krishna water dispute.
