However, the Met department had put up 'Signal Number 2' at all Gujarat ports and advised fishermen to not to venture out into the open sea during the next few days.
"Nanauk is not going to affect the entire region of Gujarat. However, wind speeds in the coastal region might reach upto 20 to 25 kilometres per hour," Director of the Meteorological Centre Jayanta Sarkar said.
"The cyclonic strom (Nanauk) would intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 24 hours. It would move West to Northwestwards towards the Oman coast during the next 120 hours," a port warning by Meteorological Centre of Ahmedabad said.
According to Met centre officials, fishermen of the region have been advised not to venture into the sea for the next few days.
Due to this cyclonic storm, some respite from heat is likely to be witnessed, while climate is likely to remain squally for the next day, the department said.
Kandla port in Kutch district remained hottest with 41.5 degrees centigrade followed by Vallabh Vidyanagar of central Gujarat where maximum temperature was recorded at 41.8 degrees centigrade.
