Based on a complaint, the police has formed five special teams to nab them, the police official said.
Kasimkota police sub-inspector M Srinivasa Rao said that five unidentified men came to the weighbridge office at around 11.45 pm on Sunday night in a vehicle.
They woke up the computer operator of the weighbridge K Gopi who was sleeping inside the office and asked him to open the doors, telling him that they are cops who would like to inspect the office, the police official said.
After they entered the room, they tied Gopi to a chair and made the lorry driver sit in the corner of the room.
Later, they broke open the almirah and fled with the cash and a gold necklace, the police official said.
The lorry driver freed Gopi and both ran after the car.
However, they were shocked due to the sudden incident, due to which Gopi and the lorry driver were unable to note down the registration number of the dacoits' vehicle in the dark, the police official said.
Though the cops tried to chase the vehicle, they failed to intercept it.
Based on a complaint by the victims, a case has been registered and an investigation is on, the police official said.
