The prosecution case was that Deivakumar (35) suspected his wife Eswari (29) of infidelity, resulting in frequent quarrels between them.
After one such heated argument on October 29 2015, he doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze, killing her on the spot.
On a complaint from her relatives, a case was registered and he was arrested the same day.
Erode District Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu sentenced Deivakumar to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
