The re-imagining of Hamlet will be set in the 14th century, but spoken in a contemporary voice.
Claire McCarthy directs the movie, with Semi Chellas writing the screenplay which is adapted from Lisa Klein's award-winning novel of the same name.
The film will be told from Ophelia's perspective and follows "the untold story of her tragic romance with the prince."
Her beauty and intelligence soon catch Hamlet's (George MacKay) attention and a forbidden love begins to grow.
The movie will also feature Clive Owen as Claudius, Tom Felton as Laertes and Devon Terrell as Horatio.
