DAN govt returned due to money ; muscle power alleges Congress

The Opposition Congress in the Nagaland Assembly alleged today that money, muscle power and gun culture led to the return of the Naga People's Front-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland to power.
"The fact that NPF has come back to power with a thumping majority by sheer money power is an indication of suppression of the people's legitimate rights in a free, fair and democratic manner," Leader of Congress Legislature Party, Tokheho Yepthomi said.
Yepthomi also cautioned the Leader of the House for not initiating any action against then home minister and currently Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Imkong L Imchen who was caught by the Assam Rifles for possession of illegal arms and ammunitions during the election period.

Initiating the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's Address Yepthomi submitted 19 amendments on behalf of the eight Congress MLAs in the House.
The CLP leader also alleged that the NPF-led DAN has betrayed the Naga people as during the 2003 state elections, they had promised to resolve the protracted Naga political issue within three months of coming to power, but 10 years had passed without a solution in sight.
He said that the NPF was trying to fool the Naga people by stating that it would step down to pave way for any alternative settlement.

He also said that to achieve solution of the Naga political issue the government should have good relations with all the major national political parties and neighbouring states.

He expressed fear that the DAN government did not have good relationship either with the major political parties at the Centre nor the neighbouring states.
He alleged while government contracts were being given to close associates and family members of the ruling party, crores of rupees were fraudulently drawn and purchases randomly made under the police modernization fund.
