Universal Studios have hired writer Daniel Casey to pen the script for "Fast and Furious 9".
The latest instalment in the franchise will be helmed by director Justin Lin with Vin Diesel once again reprising his role of Dominic Toretto.
Casey, best known for writing sci-fi thriller "Kin", will take over from Chris Morgan, who penned scripts for the franchise since "The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift", according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Morgan is currently writing the "Fast and Furious" spinoff, titled "Hobbs and Shaw", starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
"Fast and Furious 9" has a release date of April, 2020 while "Hobbs and Shaw" will hit the theatres in July, 2019.
