The 38-year-old retired soccer ace, who ended his career earlier this year after playing for French team Paris Saint-Germain, has picked the sunny city in Florida to launch his very own Major League Soccer (MLS) team, reported E! online.
Beckham is looking to expand his business empire - which also includes his own bodywear line - by launching a soccer team and he will receive a generous discount from the MLS, paying USD 25 million in fees for the upstart group.
"We know that Miami is one of the most passionate soccer markets in North America. We have met with David Beckham regarding ownership of an expansion team, and we look forward to David one day owning an MLS club," said Dan Courtemanche, MLS executive vice president.
The soccer hunk, wife Victoria, 39, and their four children - Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, Cruz, eight, and two-year-old Harper - moved back to his native hometown of London following his retirement from the sport.
