The IMD today forecast that the tendency of rise in day temperature is likely to prevail for a week in Odisha's meteorological sub-division especially in interior districts of the state.
"Rise in temperature may be experienced in Coastal districts also but sea-breeze condition would prevail in coastal region," said S C Sahu, the director of IMD, Bhubaneswar.
Asked the reason behind such climate, Sahu said the rise in day temperature is mainly due to advection of heat by Northwesterly/westerly dry hot wind towards Odisha region.
Meanwhile, IMD sources said weather has been dry across Odisha. Maximum temperatures appreciably rose over North Coastal Odisha and observed no large change over rest of the state, they said.
The maximum temperatures were below normal over North Coastal Odisha and South Interior Odisha and normal over rest of the state.
Minimum temperatures appreciably rose over North Coastal Odisha and observed no large change over rest Odisha. They were normal over Coastal region and appreciably below normal over Interior parts of the state.
The highest maximum temperature of 37 degree celsius was recorded at Bolangir and Malkangiri yesterday while the lowest minimum temperature of 12.6 degree celsius was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of the state.
