DD-Girnar gets permission for morning transmission

Doordarshan's Gujarati language news channel DD-Girnar can be viewed in morning hours from September 15, a top official of Doordashan Kendra-Ahmedabad said here today.
"DD-Girnar can be viewed on terrestrial mode through antenna between 6 am and 9 am. At present, DD-Girnar's terrestrial signals are available only between 3 pm and 7 pm. Now, same transmission will be available during morning hours also," Doordarshan Kendra-Ahmedabad's Deputy Director General, Shivaji Fulsundar told reporters.
He said that those having cable or DTH connection can watch DD-Girnar throughout the day via satellite-based transmission.
Currently, transmission of DD-Girnar is done through terrestrial and satellite mode.

Fulsundar said that users of the antenna-based television sets, which only capture terrestrial signals, can watch DD-Girnar between 3 pm to 7 pm only, which is punched in between the DD-National transmission.
"Out of all the regional channels of DD, DD-Girnar is the only channel which never had the permission for terrestrial transmission for morning hours. Now, DD authorities have granted us permission to start it from 15th September" added Fulsundar.
He said that DD-Girnar will also telecast Gujarati movies to promote local film industry.
"Gujarati movies are not shown by us or any other channel. We have now decided to promote the Gujarati film industry by showcasing Gujarati movies on DD-Girnar," he said.
