DDJAY attracting builders in Haryana

Launched with an aim of providing affordable housing and keeping a check on unauthorised colonies, Haryana government's 'Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojna' (DDJAY) is attracting response from prospective builders in the state.
The scheme equipped to grant licences for construction in low and medium potential towns of the state, according to the official spokesperson, has already received as many as 39 applications for the grant of licences for over 342.03 acres of land in eight districts of the state.
"The applications received are being examined and, once the licences are granted, the state would be able to provide shelter to more than one lakh persons in about 24,000 dwelling units," said the spokesman.

Giving district-wise details of the applications received, he said that the maximum number of 10 applications for grant of licence on 99.43 acres of land have been received in Karnal district; six for 53.03 acres in Ambala; four for 24.57 acres in Rohtak; seven for 57.11 acres in Jhajjar; two for 17.76 acres in Mewat; four for 35.53 acres in Palwal; three for 23.14 acres in Rewari; and three for 31.42 acres in Gurgaon district.
The spokesman appealed to people to avail the benefit of DDJAY and meet their housing needs, also asking them not to go in for houses in unauthorised colonies as it would put their investment at risk.

"The price of land under DDJAY is more or less the same as in any unlicensed colony, why would one opt for the latter?," he asked.
Under DDJAY, all projects are to be necessarily completed within seven years from the date of grant of licence, putting end to the questions of uncertainty and ruling out endless wait for the dream home, the spokesman added.
