Urban Development Ministry had launched the survey -- 'SwachhSurvekshan 2017'-- on January 4 and the deadline to receive citizens' feedback was February 12.
"The Ministry has extended the deadline till February 28 in the light of overwhelming response from citizens and to give them more time to participate in the survey," an official said.
With citizens feedback accounting for 30 per cent of the scoring, the survey will rank as many as 500 cities across the country on cleanliness and other aspects of urban sanitation.
Visakhapatnam received maximum feedback, followed by Gwalior, Indore, Mysore, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Warangal and Jabalpur.
Last year's survey ranked 73 cities across the country in which 1 lakh citizens had given their feedback.
