A deaf-mute inmate of the city's government-run shelter home for women in distress Nari Niketan who was allegedly sexually exploited by a staffer and made to undergo abortion recorded her statement before a magistrate today.
The victim recorded her statement with the help of an interpreter before the first judicial magistrate under section 164 of CrPC, SSP Sadanand Date told PTI.
Meanwhile, the government changed entire staff composition of Nari Niketan.
Director of the Social Welfare department V S Dhanik said that six of the staff members have been transferred to other districts with immediate effect whereas two contractual employees have been sacked.
Earlier superintendent of Nari Niketan Meenakshi Pokhriyal and Superintendent incharge Anita Maindola were suspended and an SIT probe was ordered after local media had reported alleged sexual exploitation of women inmates at the home.
