The first deaf contestant in the pageant's history, Nehal aspires to be a role model for the deaf and disabled, according to a media statement issued by its organiser Dharmatma Saran of IFC.
During the beauty pageant held in Kuala Lumpur last week, Nehal performed a Bollywood dance routine that highlights her own conviction of never giving up.
While she is unable to hear the music, she dances using the vibrations of the beats.
The First Runner-Up was Jasveer Kaur Sandhu of Malaysia and Second Runner-Up was Surbhi Sachdev of Oman. The other two finalists in the top five were Geetanjali Kelath of UAE and Ayushi Chhabra of Nigeria.
