The UP government has increased the amount of monetary help lent to dependants of labourers in the event of their acidental death to Rs five lakh from Rs one lakh.
Stressing the importance of labourers in development as they lay its foundation, Yadav said that his government would also work towards providing nutritious and balanced food to labourers and the poor so that they can put in better work for which if required canteens would be opened.
"The monetary help to the dependants of labourers in the event of his accidental death has been hiked from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakh by the state government", Akhilesh said while addressing a programme at his official residence here.
The chief minister who inaugurated and dedicated to the people some welfare schemes for the labourers also took the opportunity to thank the people for reposing faith in the party in the just-concluded bye-elections in which his party had performed well winning eight of the 11 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat.
"All the partymen worked very hard and people have reposed their faith once again in the Samajwadi Party and netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav)", he said adding that "people have defeated those who wanted to change the direction of politics and were moving about in changed robes".
On the occasion, children and teachers of a city school handed over a cheque of Rs 9 lakh for the chief ministers relief fund for the J-K flood victims.
