The couple was killed when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck last night. While the woman died on the spot, her husband expired in hospital this afternoon, Deputy Superintendent of Police Subodh Kumar Biswas said.
As the accident news spread, residents of Premdiha village gathered in large numbers and torched 18 trucks and a car stranded on the road late last night.
Bihar Truck Owners Association President Bhanu Shekhar Prasad Singh demanded compensation of Rs 30 lakh each for the truck set on fire and impose a collective fine on the area.
