Seven persons died in two separate incidents of house collapse due to landslide triggered by heavy rains in Udhampur district and four more bodies have been recovered in Rajouri district today, a state government official said.
Five members were killed and two went missing when a house collapsed in Rakha Jaganoo area of Ramnagar teshil in Udhampur district, DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Gareeb Dass said, adding, the two missing are being traced as five bodies have been recovered.
Four more bodies were recovered from Thursday's bus mishap in which 63 members of a marriage party were washed away in Rajouri district, SSP Rajouri Mubasir Latiffe said.
A total of 29 bodies have been recovered so far, he said.
With today's deaths, a total of 100 people have died in the state hit by floods and landslides due to incessant rains since Wednesday. While 89 people have been killed in Jammu, 11 have died in the Kashmir Valley so far.
"In wake of the water level rising much above danger mark, the bridges on Tawi River have been closed for traffic including that of bridge connecting highway as a precautionary measure'," District Magistrate Jammu, Ajeet Sahu said.
He said a bridge on Tawi River has suffered damage in floods and has been closed for traffic.
In Jammu, twelve Army relief columns including three medical teams along with the civil administration of Jammu; provided assistance to over 3,000 people, primarily women, children and elderly persons, displaced from their homes in Pargwal, Marh, Makwal and Tawi areas.
