Declare martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur as holiday: SAD MP

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) member Prem Singh Chandumajra Wednesday demanded in the Lok Sabha that the death anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur be declared as martyrdom day and a national holiday.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of the ten Sikh Gurus.

"I request the central government to declare the day as martyrdom day and announce a national holiday," he said.

Chandumajra also urged members to speak about the Guru in the House.
