The victim - believed to be in his 40s - was found in the gutter by passersby, who notified the police.
"At about 11 AM, our men rushed to the spot and the body, which was in a decomposed state but not very badly, was sent to the government-run hospital for post mortem," Sunil Jain, said Senior Inspector at Worli police station.
It was very premature to comment on whether it was a case of suicide or murder, Jain said adding "after receiving the post mortem report, things will be clear."
