Expressing concern over "lack" of security for members of Delhi Assembly and firing at a Congress MLA's office, Cheif Minister Sheila Dikshit today said she will communicate the sentiments of the House to the Union Home Ministry to provide security cover.
"Today's incident (of "firing" at Congress MLA Anil Bharadwaj's office) was a shock and regrettable as nobody had expected that an MLA would be attacked in a broad daylight. It's a cause of concern for all of us and I would communicate the sentiment of the House to the Home Minister," she said while replying to a debate on deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
She said it was a matter of concern that there was no sense of security among women who are afraid of the body (Police) which was formed to protect all citizens including elected representatives.
Accusing Dikshit of demoralising Delhi Police by making periodic statement against the force, senior BJP leader Sahab Singh Chauhan said "you are terrorising the police everyday".
He said the police were being attacked on a regular basis by the Cheif Minister, "which was not good for overall law and order situation in the city."
Cutting across the party line, the House condemned the incident of firing in a broad daylight Bhardwaj.
