Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari along with some party MPS and workers today staged a protest near the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanding removal of PWD and Health Minister Satyendar Jain from the Cabinet.
Scores of party workers and leaders, including MPs from the national capital, marched from the Metcalfe House to residence of the CM raising slogans against the AAP government and Jain.
They were, however, detained as they reached closer to the CM house and were taken to the Operation Cell police station of north district, police said.
The detained party workers and leaders, including Manoj Tiwari, were released later, they said.
"The illegal money laundering activities by Minister Satyendar Jain stands evidently exposed and political propriety demands that either he resign or be dismissed," Tiwari said addressing the protestors.
Kejriwal must act against Satyendar Jain if he wants to "save his image of an honest leader before his family and friends more than anybody else", he said.
Attacking Kejriwal, he said the man who once said he will not allow a single tainted MLA in the Vidhan Sabha has all through "supported his tainted" colleagues forgetting" all morality lessons he "preached" before coming to power.
Tiwari's views were echoed by other party leaders including BJP MPs from Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi, Udit Raj, Pravesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri and Maheish Girri and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta.
The BJP has been accusing Jain of "financial irregularities" after the I-T department in September last issued summons asking him to appear before it in connection with a tax evasion probe against certain Kolkata-based firms.
The demonstration was also attended by many senior leaders of Delhi BJP, including Siddharthan, RP Singh, Pawan Sharma, MLA Jagdish Pradhan. Large number of office bearers and workers from 14 district units of the party took part in the protest.
