Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos did not play in his side's 1-0 win over Chennaiyin FC on October 8 because of an injury, the Indian Super League football side said today.
The club said that the Brazilian World Cup winner suffered a major fracture in his right hand finger during a training session before the first match against Goa at Margao.
He, however, played in Goa since the team needed him but the injury got worse during that game which Delhi Dynamos lost 0-2.
Carlos wanted to play for the fans at the first home game against Chennaiyin at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here but could not do that due to his fractured finger.
Commenting on his injury, Carlos said, "I'm thankful to God that it's just my finger and not my legs or feet."
"Even though I was not playing for the match against Chennaiyin, I'm so glad that the team did a great job. I hope to be able to join them soon. I want a quick recovery for the fans who came in large numbers to cheer for us in the first home game," he said in a release.
Delhi Dynamos President Prashant Agarwal said, "We, the Delhi Dynamos family, wish him a speedy recovery so that he can continue being the asset that he is for the team. We look forward to see him play brilliant football in the upcoming matches.
