Delhi govt earns Rs 35.9 lakh from e-auction of fancy numbers

Delhi government's e-auction of fancy registration numbers for vehicles today fetched it a whopping Rs 35.93 lakh with the number 0001 itself going for Rs 6 lakh.
The government has earned more than Rs 2.89 crore from sixth rounds of e-auction of fancy numbers so far.
The sixth round of e-auction of the fancy or VIP registration numbers concluded today with 24 bidders walking away with numbers of their choice after participating in an online auctioning process.
According to the Transport department, the number 0001, which had a minimum reserve price of Rs 5 lakh, was sold for Rs 6 lakh while the numbers 0005, 0007 and 0009 went for Rs 3.05 lakh each.
"In the sixth round, we received revenue of Rs 35.93 lakh after auctioning 24 fancy numbers," a senior official said.
The third highest bid, of Rs 2.10 lakh, was received for 0099 followed by 0041 for 2.05 lakh, 0018 and 0041 for Rs 2 lakh. The number 0011 was sold for Rs 2.10 lakh.
In the first round of e-auction of the fancy numbers, government had received Rs 72.40 lakh while in second round, government earned Rs 66.30 lakh.
The transport department had received Rs 49.20 lakh in third round, fourth round fetched the department Rs 33.50 lakh.
In the fifth round, government had earned 32.15 lakh from the e-auction of fancy numbers.
