According to the department, as many as 864 people had applied for driving licence during 14-day long Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan held last month and 588 learning licences have been issued while 276 applicants failed to get the same.
The Arvind Kejriwal government had provided a facility for visitors to get learner licence issued on their names this time at the stall of transport department at Delhi Pavilion here.
A senior government official said that the department had received such good response from the visitors that it had to stop issuing licence for a while due to huge numbers of applicants during the Trade Fair.
"During the Trade Fair, 864 people, who visited the transport department's stall, had applied for the same," the official said.
At the department's stall, Car-Free Day and other initiatives that have been taken by the transport department, were put on exhibition at the Delhi Pavilion this year.
On 22nd of every month, the AAP government organises 'Car-Free Day' on different road stretch to encourage the masses not to use their cars for at least one day.
Earlier, on November 22, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced that his government would organise 'Car-Free Day' across the national capital on January 22 next year, saying he will also cycle to his office that day.
