Delhi government has made arrangements for managing burn victim and providing first aid in three government hospitals namely Lok Nayak hospital, Deen Dayal Hospital and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in the city.
Dr Rajeev B Ahuja, Consultant & Head, Burns and Plastic Surgery Department, Lok Nayak Hospital has been appointed as Nodal Officer of Delhi government for burn management.
Central Government hospitals -- Safdarjung Hospital, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, Suchita Kriplani Hospital and Kalawati Saran Children Hospital have also been nominated for burn care during Diwali Festival.
The Health department directed the hospital authorities for essential arrangement of more ventilators, medicines, cotton, dressing materials bandages and other essentials to treat burn cases so that it doesn't grapple with any shortage of resources on Diwali day.
As per the directive, one should always be prepared for an emergency and be aware of the location of nearest designated burns centre in the area.
"In case of burns, victim should be removed from the area and water poured over the burnt area. For safety, two buckets of water should be kept handy while playing with crackers.
"Also burnt phooljharies should be thrown in a bucket filled with water or sand to avoid their reuse on an accidental contact with children," Dr Ahuja said.
In case of eye burns they should be washed thoroughly with tap water and victim should be immediately taken to an eye specialist. Burnt area should be washed under running tap water and no oil, ointment or cream be applied.
