Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement about the formation of the 'entreprenuership council' at a press conference here today, which he said will submit its report in the next three months.
The council will work under the aegis of Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDC), which itself is an advisory body to the AAP government. DDC vice-chairman Ashish Khetan had earlier submitted a roadmap in this regard to the chief minister.
Kejriwal said the proposed draft statehood Bill, if approved by the Centre, would also provide a fillip to the businesses in the city, "many of which have moved to Noida and Gurgaon" despite being founded here.
The council, whose patron will be Industries Minister Satyendar Jain, will have members from industries and businesses as well as angel investors, Kejriwal said.
Its recommendations would pertain to creation of most suitable policy framework for all micro entrepreneurs, small and medium scale enterprises, new-age start-ups as well as large businesses.
The council will be headed by 'naukri.Com' founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani. It will comprise largely of entrepreneurs hailing from Delhi. Some of the members are Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm, Mahesh Murthy of Pinstorm and Vikas Kuthiala of First India Assistance who is also a member of Indian Angel Network.
