Irrigation and Flood Control Minister A K Walia today said construction of the 100-meter wall on the right bank of Yamuna on Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road) between Boat Club and Kudesia Ghat will prevent flooding of the area.
The Tibetan market was flooded when the water level had gone up significantly last month.
The wall to be constructed with raft slab foundation will protect inhabitants who face inconvenience due to heavy rainfall and flooding, he said.
"The project would be completed within a period of 15 months after requisite sanctions," he said at a meeting of the Flood Control Board here.
Additionally, five other schemes with estimated cost of Rs 18.91 crores were also cleared by the Board today.
