Delhi govt to study routes of mini buses, Gramin Sewa vehicles

The Transport Department of Delhi government has decided to conduct a study on the routes of mini buses and Gramin Sewa vehicles plying across the city, a move intended to ensure last-mile connectivity in the capital.
The department has asked Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) to initiate the study and submit its report at the earliest.
A senior government official said that there are around 800 mini buses and 5,000 Gramin Sewa, an eight-seater vehicle, registered in Delhi.
"The move aims to provide the last-mile connectivity to the people of Delhi. As per the decision, DIMTS will identify those routes which lack sufficient numbers of buses," the official said.

According to the department, once study is completed, it will be ensured that mini buses and Gramin Sewa vehicles cover all areas that lack good bus connectivity.
STA bus operators are likely to benefit due to the decision as they complain that they do not get many passengers since e-rickshaws have started plying on the city's roads.
