Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna today donated Rs 10 lakh to an NGO working for underprivileged people, including abandoned senior citizens, destitute children and mentally disabled people.
The Lt Governor handed over the money to 'The Earth Saviours Foundation' at a function here which was also attended by former Air Chief O P Mehra among others, a statement by the NGO said.
The NGO is running a centre, 'Gurukul', in Vasant Kunj for deprived and disabled people where all basic facilities such as food, shelter, medicines are provided free of cost.
"We had earlier launched a campaign titled 'Do Not Honk' to educate and control unnecessary vehicular honking which is causing avoidable noise pollution," said Ravi Kalra, Founder and President of the NGO.
Some of the initiatives of the NGO include a rehabilitation centre for poor children, Nari Niketan (women's shelter), orphanage and adoption centre.
