Delhi Metro trains were operated at a restricted speed following the quake in the national capital today.
"We have a standard drill in earthquake situation. So trains, which are all centrally controlled, stopped momentarily when the tremor lasted. And, services were resumed after that," DMRC's Executive Director for Corporate Communications Anuj Dayal told PTI.
"During these situations, we operate trains at cautionary or restricted speed. So, that's what we did. But, no, train services were not affected, they were slowed down," he said.
Passengers at metro stations complained of decrease in frequency of trains.
Immediately after the quake at around 12:35 PM, panic- stricken people were seen rushing out of buildings in Delhi.
The high-intensity quake, epicentred in Nepal, led to situations of panic among people in Delhi and in Bihar and other parts of north India.
The temblor left 17 dead, including 16 in Bihar, while over 40 lives were lost in Nepal, which was still reeling under the aftermath of the killer quake of April 25, which has claimed over 8,000 lives and injured over twice as many.
