Delhi Police constable rewarded for returning stolen booty

A Delhi Police constable, who recovered jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh stolen from a farm house in Karnal and deposited it with his department, has been rewarded for his "exemplary act" of integrity.
Newly-appointed Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik took to Twitter to laud constable Sandeep, posted in the east district and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for him.
Sharing details, DCP east district Omvir Singh said Sandeep apprehended Anender at the Anand Vihar ISBT during a routine check of luggages of passengers arriving at the bus terminus yesterday.
During checking, gold ornaments were found lying in the bag of the suspect, who could not explain its presence.

"During sustained interrogation he stated that he was employed as domestic help in a farm house near Karnal city. He learnt about the presence of large quantity of gold and cash in the farm house.
"On the intervening night of January 31 and February 1, he traced the keys of the locker and decamped with all the jewellery and cash available inside it," Singh said.
The Karnal Police have reached Delhi for further legal proceedings in the case.
