Sixty women officers have been deputed at 20 police stations in the city as the police launched the scheme of Facilitation Officers to make the grievance redressal process smoother and more people-friendly.
Commissioner of Delhi Police Amulya Patnaik today launched the scheme of facilitation officers at the Connaught Place police station.
In due course, the facility will be extended to other police stations in Delhi, said a police spokesperson.
The move is aimed at making the Public Facilitation Desk more responsive, empathetic and effective at the police stations.
Earlier, the duty officer was supposed to interact with the complainants at the police stations but often due to their preoccupation, visitors had to wait.
Also, many a times, people visiting police stations fail to meet the the SHOs and investigating officers performing their field duties, said the official.
The women public facilitation officers have been trained and duly sensitised towards needs of their duty. They were chosen after a proper interview and put on an intensive training for three days.
Three officers will work at the facilitation desk of each police station, round-the-clock in 3 shifts, he added.
