Delhi Police Inspector arrested by CBI for taking bribe

CBI today arrested an Inspector of Delhi Police for allegedly receiving bribe of Rs one lakh from a charge sheeted accused for favouring him.
CBI sources said Inspector Ram Niwas posted at Chawala police station was arrested late evening today for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from an accused against whom a non-bailable warrant was issued.
They said the Inspector had demanded Rs five lakh for helping in the NBW matter but the settlement was done at Rs one lakh.
The charge sheeted accused complained to CBI about the alleged demand of the Inspector on the basis of which agency carried out a surprise operation and arrested the Inspector while the money was being exchanged, the sources claimed.
The CBI spokesperson said the arrested Inspector will be produced before the Court tomorrow.
