The unit, which will work under the supervision of Economic Offense Wing (EOW), would be formed at all 11 districts each.
At present, EOW investigates cases of fraud of Rs two crore and above.
"We have plan to train officials of District Investigation Unit (DIU) to investigate the fraud cases belonging to less amount," Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said.
"It has also been noticed that in small amount-fraud cases, investigation takes time. According to new plan, these specialised units will tackle such cases." Bassi said.
Police said DIU officials would also help the local police stations investigate different crimes.
