Delhi records hottest day of March in past 7 years

It was a hot day in the national capital today with the mercury soaring up to 38.3 degrees Celsius, six notches above the normal, making it the hottest day of March in the last seven years.
Even the minimum temperature, which was pegged at 23.7 degrees, six notches above the season's average, was the highest since 2012.
According to a senior Met department official, this March has been the hottest in the last five years with the maximum temperature hovering above the 35 degree mark for most of the days.
"The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered the official figure for the city registered a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius, which is the hottest day witnessed in the month of March since 2011 when the day temperature was recorded at 39.2 degrees," the official said.
The Palam observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius, the official added.
The humidity oscillated between 65 and 24 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 38 and 23 degrees Celsius tomorrow," it said.
Yesterday the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.1 degrees Celsius while maximum settled at 38.2 degrees Celsius.
