Delhi today recorded the second lowest temperature of the season with the mercury dipping to 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, even as early morning dense fog affected about 50 north-bound trains.
However, no diversion or cancellation of flights due to fog was reported.
This season, the city had recorded its lowest minimum temperature at 4.2 degrees Celsius on December 22.
The MeT office has predicted mainly clear skies during the day with the maximum temperature at around 17 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.
"Visibility was recorded as 700 metres at 8.30 AM and the humidity recorded was 100 per cent," a MeT official said.
The dense fog has affected the services of about 50 north-bound trains including Bhagalpur Garib Rath, Shan-e-Punjab Express, Chhattisgarh Express, Jammu Mail and Purba Express, according to a Northern Railways official.
The official added that authorities also had to reschedule the departure timings of few trains.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature settled two notches below normal at 6.3 degrees Celsius and the maximum was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius.
