Delhiites feel nip in the air; 30 trains delayed due to fog

A chilly morning in the national capital today failed to deter the thousands of people who gathered on both sides of the majestic Rajpath to cheer the marching contingents for the 67th Republic Day.
It was sunny throughout the day unlike last year and the maximum temperature rose to settle at 21.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal while the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, said a MeT department official.
Foggy conditions were witnessed disrupting the rail services.
According to railway officials, 30 Delhi-bound trains were delayed and 46 remained cancelled as announced earlier.
However, flight operations remained normal at the Delhi Airport.
The visibility which dropped to 200 meters at 8.30 AM due to fog, improved to 600 meters at 11.30 AM and further to 800 meters at 2.30 PM. It was recorded 100 meters at 5.30 PM.
The humidity in air oscillated between 100 and 61 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy skies for tomorrow.
""The skies will be partly cloudy. Moderate to dense fog may occur in the morning and forenoon. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to hover around 20 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 18.6 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average.
