Hundreds of Tamil lovers, including students, holding placards with the couplets participated in the rally, which was flagged off by eminent poet and lyricist, Vairamuthu, as part of an Art and Literature Festival, organised by "Vettri Tamilar Peravai".
Other demands put forward by them included use of Tamil language in Court proceedings and to make Tamil as compulsory language in all schools in the State.
Former Congress president, Kumari Anandan, Poet Shirpi Balasubramanian, Prof James Santhosham, Peravai General Secretary, Marabin Mynthan Muthaiah, Era Chezhian, and a few functionaries of Tamil Sanghams from Malaysia, Canada and Switzerland participated in the procession.
